THERE ARE SEVERAL THINGS YOU CAN DO TO HELP PASS SAFE STAFFING LEGISLATION

1) Contact your state senator and state representative.
Call, write or email. Tell your legislator why you support safe staffing legislation. Perhaps share a personal story with them. Take Action Now!

If you don't know who your legislators are, you can find out (via the MNA Web site) by typing your zip code below.  Then,
  • Call:
    • Senate switchboard: 617.722.1455
    • House switchboard: 617.722.2000
  • Write or e-mail:
    • Find contact information for your legislators below.
    • Or let the MNA send the letter for you by filling out this form.

2) Get support from non-nurses.
Do you belong to a parent/teacher organization (PTO), a church, a neighborhood group or a town committee? Arrange a time to present information on how RN staffing affects everyone. Invite your PTO to formally endorse the legislation. Ask your town committee to pass a resolution supporting the Patient Safety Act. Invite seniors in your community group to get more involved by contacting their legislators. For more information or for materials, contact Riley Ohlson at the MNA 781.830.5740, or rohlson@mnarn.org.

3) Spread the word!
Let others know about opportunities to contact legislators, volunteer with campaigns, and make their voices heard.
